Dear parents, children, community members:
During this past year, Child Find Nova Scotia has engaged in a whirlwind of
activities. In light of the increasing number of abductions and runaways in
Canada, we recognize the pressing and critical need to teach children, parents,
school officials, and communities ways to keep our children safe. We are
endeavouring to create new programs with up-to-date, age-appropriate materials.
As well, we are constantly working on developing strategies and tools that will
increase our ability to find missing children.
Nova Scotia’s Amber Alert program, the fruit of a collaborative effort with our
partners, the Nova Scotia Department of Justice, the Safer Communities Across
Nova Scotia : Crime Prevention Society of Nova Scotia, Our Missing Children
Canada, and the Canada Border Services Agency, was launched in Nova Scotia on
May 25th, 2006. Child Find Nova Scotia is proud to have been a partner in the
implementation of this commendable program which, through a coordinated,
integrated intervention by the law enforcement agencies and the media, will
surely increase the likelihood of quickly locating our missing children.
Child Find is a nonprofit, charitable organization. We depend on your
generosity to help us deliver our programs. We’d like to take this opportunity
to thank all of our corporate sponsors and supporters.
The safety of a child is everyone’s responsibility. Thank you for making it
yours.
Lynn McMillan
President, Child Find Nova Scotia
